Slovakia regulates AML/CTF through the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Presidium of the Police Force, which is both the national financial intelligence unit and the supervisory body for obliged entities, alongside Národná banka Slovenska for the financial market entities it licences. Act No. 297/2008 is the principal statute, and as an EU member state Slovakia transposes the EU Anti-Money Laundering Directives.
Obliged entities must assess their money laundering and terrorist financing risk, apply customer due diligence, identify beneficial owners, and report suspicious transactions to the FIU. Supervisors expect a documented compliance framework, a named responsible person, and ongoing staff training.
MemberCheck helps teams meet these obligations by screening customers and entities against global sanctions, PEP, and adverse-media data, verifying identities, and monitoring risk continuously, with a clear audit trail behind every decision.
