Mozambique regulates money laundering and terrorist financing through Law 14/2023, supported by GIFiM, which receives and analyses suspicious transaction reports. Mozambique was placed on the FATF grey list in 2022 amid AML/CTF concerns and was removed from increased monitoring in October 2025.
Regulated entities must apply customer due diligence, identify beneficial owners, monitor relationships, and report suspicious activity to GIFiM, alongside supervision from the Banco de Moçambique. Supervisors expect a designated compliance officer, sound internal controls, and staff training.
